Kemtron Launches Flame Retardant EMC Shielding Gasket

Kemtron Launches Flame Retardant EMC Shielding Gasket

Kemtron, the British manufacturer of RFI/EMI shielding gaskets, materials and components has launched a flame retardant, low smoke, low toxicity EMC shielding gasket.

Tested and approved to the international standard UL94V-0 by Underwriters Laboratories for flame retardancy, file number E344902. Also tested for smoke density to BS 6853:1999: Annex D.8.3and oxygen index to BS EN ISO 4589-2:1999 confirming the material meets to requirements for minor internal use on vehicles category 1a such as gaskets for electronic enclosures, making it highly suitable for applications in underground transportation, trains and other safety critical applications.

The material is a nickel coated graphite loaded into silicone elastomers, product code SNG-FR, the gasket provided a highly electrically conductive path between mating flanges of an electronics equipment enclosure giving a high level of RFI/EMI shielding. The material can be supplied as an extruded strip in various profiles, “O” rings or flat die cut gaskets.

Kemtron Opens French Office

Kemtron Opens French Office

Kemtron, the British manufacturer of RFI/EMI shielding and environmental sealing solutions, has opened an office in France to provide a dedicated local sales, distribution and technical service to this important high-tech market.

The office, which is set in Courcouronnes, just south of Paris will be 100% French owned and will employ local staff.

“France is a very important market for us,” says Managing Director of Kemtron SARL Steve Halls. “In many ways it is similar to the UK, with a strong community of leading-edge companies in defence, medical equipment, information technology, transport and communications who require sophisticated shielding and sealing solutions. We find that companies like these prefer to build close long-term relationships with partners who can provide the right level of technical and specialist manufacturing expertise.”

The office represents the next stage in Kemtron’s growing presence in the French market. “We appointed a French national to handle our local business in 2009, that gave us a greater insight into the needs of the market. In November 2010 we went a step further and registered our planned French operation as a SARL, a private limited liability company, with a share capital of €50,000. We are also setting up a dedicated French website and producing local versions of our publications and product information.”

Initially, the French office will provide full sales, logistics and technical support, with plans to introduce local manufacturing in the future. Kemtron believe that dedicated local facilities like these are essential to the community of innovative companies based in France. This approach represents a powerful business model which could be replicated in other territories with a similar profile.

Kemtron Gains Accreditation to International Environmental and Occupational Health Standards

Kemtron Gains Accreditation to International Environmental and Occupational Health Standards

Kemtron, the British manufacturer of EMC shielding and environmental sealing solutions, has achieved accreditation through the British Standards Institute (BSI) to ISO 14001, the international standard for Environmental Management Systems, and OHSAS 18001, the standard for Occupational Health and Safety.

The OHSAS specification sets out the requirements for an occupational health and safety management system, to enable an organisation to control its OH&S risks and improve its performance. ISO 14001 specifies a process for controlling and improving a company’s environmental performance.

Managing Director David Wall said, “We are delighted to have achieved accreditation to these internationally-recognised management systems. Quality has been a priority for Kemtron since 1988 when we achieved accreditation to BS5750 the predecessor to ISO9001. We document all of our processes and operate a policy of continuous improvement for customers, employees and the environment. Accreditation to these two demanding standards takes our commitment to a new level and reinforces our position as a world-class supplier.”

“Our customers can feel confident that Kemtron solutions, which are designed and manufactured in Britain, meet requirements for quality, sustainability and responsibility in the workplace,” he added. “And it’s a tribute to our employees who have worked so hard to reach and maintain the demanding standards.”

Kemtron, an ISO 9001 accredited organisation, developed and implemented the integrated management system in house over a 12 month period, building on measures and quality management processes already in place. The prestigious award came after an in-depth assessment by BSI Inspectors in which they examined every aspect of Kemtron’ s policy and systems for environmental and occupational health and safety issues.

Electronica 2010 Provides A Showcase For Kemtron’s Continuing International Growth

Electronica 2010, acknowledged as the world’s leading trade fair for electronic components and solutions, provided a high-quality international showcase for Kemtron, the British manufacturer of EMC shielding and environmental sealing solutions.

The event, held in Munich in November 2010, attracted over 72,000 visitors from 76 countries and gave Kemtron the opportunity to meet key decision makers as part of its international growth strategy. “We already export to 35 countries,” said Managing Director David Wall. “Electronica put our name in front of a high-calibre global audience and has opened up important new business opportunities.” “Our European business is already significant,” he added. “This is reflected in our decision to open a French office later this year. However, the market is now global so we find it important to build and maintain contact with an international audience at events like Electronica.”

Kemtron continues its focus on exports in March 2011, exhibiting at EMV 2011 in Stuttgart. “This is our third/fourth appearance at this exhibition,” said David Wall. “It represents a valuable platform for maintaining contact with the international EMC community.”
