WAVE-X® - EMI Suppression and Absorbtion |
|
ARC Technologies developed the WAVE-X family of products in response to technical needs for a flexible, low profile EMI absorber that is readily conformable and easy to install in the area to be shielded.
ARC engineers recognize that EMI is not a single-source problem with a single-product solution. That is why WAVE-X is offered in an array of materials, sizes, features and formulations. ARC WAVE-X products provide EMI suppression and/or absorption of radiated emissions generated by: Telecom and Computer Systems · Mobile Phones · Wireless Devices · GPS · Handheld Computers · On-Board Components · Digital Cameras and Camcorders · Digital Entertainment Devices · Cables Medical Electronic Devices · Automotive Wireless Systems |
Wave-X includes the following product groups:

WAVE-X® WX seriesHigh Permeability Absorbers & SuppressorsWave-X® WX series combines the highly effective energy absorption properties of proprietary high performance magnetic materials with the desirable physical characteristics of flexible elastomer. Precisely refined fillers are blended in exacting ratios with various substrate materials to create thin, flexible EMI absorption sheets which attenuate over a wide range of frequencies. Wave-X® products provide superior EMI absorption through inductive coupling and are designed for close proximity placement to the transmission source. These thin, flexible absorber sheets attenuate the radiated noise by suppressing magnetic fields at the source. |

WAVE-X® WK seriesUltra-thin Absorbers & SuppressorsWave-X® WK Series absorbers represent a paradigm shift in terms of absorber technology. For the first time, thin-film materials can be used to absorb EMI at frequencies as low as 100MHz. The WK Series absorbers from ARC are comprised of a thin film polyurethane film treated on one surface with a refined absorber matrix. One surface is insulated so that the WK series can be installed in contact with active circuits where necessary. With a thickness of just 60 microns (0.002") WK Series absorbers will fit into even the smallest of spaces. Effective control of EMI from 100MHz to 3GHz is assured. |

WAVE-X® WC seriesChip Cap Absorbers & Suppressors
The ARC Chip-Cap absorber products are quickly and conveniently mounted over the noisy chip and are designed to suppress undesirable signals over a wide range of frequencies, from 1GHz to over 40GHz. The Chip-Cap consists of a magnetic absorber loaded with metallic powder, encapsulated in flexible polymer such as TPE, silicone or urethane. This product functions as a mode suppressor or signal isolator to absorb HF energy emanating from the chip package and leads. Attachment is accomplished by pressure sensitive adhesive or the absorber can be retained in place by a heat sink or other mechanical fastening techniques. Many parts are UL94 rated. Numerous configurations are possible including complete coverage, open top and lead suppression only. Any chip package dimensions can be accommodated by injection or compression molding. |

WAVE-X® WD series>Tailored Permeability, UL94-V0 Rated Absorbers & SuppressorsWave-X WD Series absorbers are made from soft magnetic metal powders encapsulated in flexible thermoplastic rubber sheets. Within the WD series range ARC has included several product categories designed to optimize absorber thickness and permeability against the frequencies to be controlled. All products in the WD Series are UL94-V0 certified. Like all Wave-X products, the WD Series provides superior EMI absorption through inductive coupling and are designed for close proximity placement to the transmission source. These thin, flexible absorber sheets attenuate the radiated noise by suppressing magnetic fields at the source. The Wave-X WD-HS absorbers are designed to enhance the transmission range of RFID systems operating at 13.56MHz. |
