Enclosure, Case and Door Shielding Products |
| The following products offer various solutions to everyday shielding and environmental sealing of doors, enclosures etc.
Solutions are available to provide simple EMC sealing to more elegant options providing sealing up to IP66. In addition materials can be selected to provide both NEMP and NBC protection if required. Products are also available with full UL94-HB and VO rated materials for use in applications with concerns to flammability.
Kemtron also offer non-conductive environmental seals, these are available in a comprehensive range of profiles & materials to suit the most demanding conditions - see the Environmental Products section. Vent Panels - EMI screened ventilation panels constructed from steel or aluminium honeycomb mounted in a frame. Many frame styles and sizes are available from stock, including vent panels incorporating kick plates and angled honeycombs to prevent damage or ingress of water. Various plating finishes as well as fully welded corner options are also available to tailor vent panels to customers most demanding specifications. |

Knitted wire mesh over an elastomer core These products require a low closing force which makes them ideal for use in situations where compression on the gasket is released and reapplied frequently, as in the case of enclosure doors and inspection panels. This property also makes it ideal for gasketing irregular surfaces as may be found on castings and sheet metal fabrications. Whilst it is not recommended as a full environmental seal it does offer a limited seal against dust. The product consists of two layers of wire mesh knitted over an elastomer core. More layers may be applied depending upon the application of the finished item and the degree of shielding required. e.g. 7 layers of TCS for EMP. |

Knitted wire mesh over an elastomer core with an environmental seal Provides a full environmental and RFI/EMI seal when clamped between two flat surfaces. It is ideal for use in situations where repeated opening and closing operations are necessary due to its resiliency and the low closing force required for the product to be effective. It is easily mounted on any flat surface by removing the backing paper to expose a self adhesive tape. The product consists of knitted wire mesh bonded to a silicone sponge or neoprene sponge carrier. It is supplied in lengths up to 10 metres or as finished gaskets of any size, to customer specifications. It is possible to die cut the sponge to very precise dimensions. Compression stops or collars may also be fitted to reduce the risk of overtightening resulting in gasket distortion. |

Schlegel conductive fabric over UL rated urethane foams.
Schlegel invented highly conductive fabric over foam gaskets in 1987, marking a major breakthrough for the electromagnetic interference shielding of electronic enclosures. Schlegel EMI shielding products are made from highly-conductive materials, soft urethane foam, structural laminates and exclusive corrosion-resistant coatings. A full range of products including EMI Shielding Gaskets, I/O shielding gaskets, Large Surface Shielding, and conductive fabric tapes can be finished to fit application requirements. Schlegel gaskets are available in an evolving selection of sizes, shapes, and fabric claddings. Their latest fabric is an enhanced woven nickel-copper with C70 coating which joins the existing high performance woven Nickel-Copper-C12. These fabrics are non-abrasive to plated and painted surfaces and maintain galvanic compatibility with a wide range of surfaces. |

Beryllium Copper fingerstock (pdf) Beryllium Copper makes an ideal gasket material due to its high conductivity giving good shielding effectiveness. Excellent spring features and resistance to compression set make them ideal for high cycle applications in both compression and in a wiping action. Various profiles are available to meet design needs and gaps of 0.25 to 10.2mm can be accommodated. Beryllium copper gaskets have a usable deflection of approximately 75% of their height making the larger profiles ideally suited to shield large gaps and take up large tolerance differences. Mounting methods dependent on profile is Clip on, Stick on with double-sided tape, Rivet, Weld, Solder and Slot mount. There are 21 plating finishes available designed to meet galvanic compatibility needs and enhance performance in specific applications. |
