Cable and Cable Connection Products |
The following products offer various solutions to everyday cable termination and screening problems. For unshielded cable requirements - knitted wire mesh bandages, round and flat ferrites and "Kemzip" are available. To allow a good EMC termination of screened cables use cable entry glands. Knitted wire mesh over silicone tube can be used for passing small diameter cables through the ID, hence providing the equivalent of a braided part. Kemtron is also able to supply a wide range of gaskets to suit Military and "D" type connectors, along with a custom design service for non-standard connector body profiles. |

Knitted wire mesh bandage A flat mesh bandage available in various widths that can be tightly wrapped around an unscreened cable to reduce either radiation from the cable or external EMI reaching the cable cores. TCS wire is most suitable as this can be soldered to, although the knitted mesh bandage is also available in Monel, Aluminium and Stainless Steel versions. |

Screened cable entry glands The cable entry gland provides an excellent EMP/EMI shield for screened cables which pass through enclosure walls. A round or threaded hole is required to mount the gland. (The gland can also be welded or soldered into the enclosure wall). The cable entry gland uses a wire mesh olive, which when compressed provides circumferential pressure to both cable and gland body, giving excellent electrical conductivity. The gasket ensures a good EMI seal between gland and enclosure. Standard range to suit cables from 1.5mm OD to 16mm OD, but larger sizes can be produced to custom order. The use of a heat shrink boot provides environmental protection. |

"Kemzip" flexible, screened cable wrapping Kemzip is a cable screening product designed to be wrapped around cables requiring EMI/EMC protection. It is especially suitable for retrofitting to products already in prodution that are suffering from RFI radiation or conducted emission susceptibility problems. UV, ozone and weather resistant, self-extinguishing materials operating over a minimum temperature range of -30 °C to +105 °C. Kemzip is available in many variants, contact us to discuss your specific application. |

Connector gaskets (pdf) For use with connectors where an EMI/RFI seal is required. The gaskets can be manufactured in a variety of materials to suit most environmental and interface conditions. The gaskets are made from our standard range of tools and are designed to comply with standard connectors. In addition we can produce custom sizes and shapes to suit most connectors, please contact us for further details. |

Steward Round solid and clamp - on cable suppression ferrites Steward's Cylindrical EMI suppression ferrites provide a cost effective means of reducing common and differential mode EMI. These cores are most frequently used to suppress common mode EMI on the internal and external cable assemblies of electronic equipment. By decreasing the levels of EMI radiated by internal cables, ferrite cores can reduce the cost and amount of overall shielding required to confine EMI within a product's enclosure. They may also be successfully used on power cables that carry digital or analog signaling. To achieve maximum EMI filtering performance in a given application, select a ferrite with an inner diameter most closely matching the outer diameter of the wire or wire bundle to be filtered. For retrofit and post-assembly operations, Steward offers a selection of "split" components. Similar in performance to Steward's one piece core designs, these split ferrite cores provide excellent common and differential mode EMI suppression on round cable assemblies. Lightweight, inexpensive plastic snap-on cases provide secure closure of the split cores onto the cable. |

Steward Flat ribbon cable solid and clamp - on suppression ferrites Steward's rectangular EMI suppression ferrite cores provide a cost-effective means of reducing common mode EMI on flat or ribbon type cable assemblies. They are most frequently used to suppress EMI on the internal data cable assemblies of electronic equipment. By reducing the level of interference radiated or received by internal cables, these ferrite cores can reduce the cost and amount of overall shielding required to confine EMI within a product's enclosure. Steward also offers a selection of "split" components for retrofit and post-assembly operations. Similar in performance to Steward's one piece core designs, these split ferrite cores provide excellent differential and common mode EMI suppression on flat cable assemblies. Lightweight, inexpensive metal or plastic end clips provide secure closure of the ferrite onto the cable. |
