Kemtron goes to No.10

Kemtron meets the new PM at No.10

Kemtron’s MD Victoria Tsoi, was involved in the first of a series of meetings arranged by No.10 to explore how the UK Government can support SME’s to grow and improve their export opportunities. The meeting, chaired by new Prime Minister Theresa May, included several small business representatives as well as membership organisations.

“It was refreshing to see that government, and more specifically the Prime Minister, are interested in SME’s and keen to listen to our views and challenges. I am excited about what we may be able to achieve through the dialogue that is taking place and looking forward to making good progress and achieving some positive actions.”

The original invitation came through the Essex Chambers of Commerce who asked if Victoria would be interested in becoming involved in the round table discussion.

“It was an honour to be selected and I am keen to provide an insight into the challenges and issues we face as an SME exporter in European and international markets.”

The government is looking to develop a new industrial strategy to include recognition of the needs of SME’s and to reflect the opportunities that may be available as a result of Brexit. The core areas around uncertainty, capital availability and skills were raised.

Kemtron provide a Form-in-Place seal solution

Kemtron provide a Form-in-Place seal solution

Kemtron have provided our customer with a Form-in-Place gasket solution which replaces an environmental O ring seal on the housing of a portable electronics unit.

The housings will arrive at the customer with the Form-in-Place gasket already attached, therefore reducing assembly time. With the previous O ring solution, if a seal was missed during assembly it would not be identified until the end of the assembly and test process, fitting of the O ring would then require costly re-work and re-test activities. With the Form-in-Place solution, the risk of assembly without a seal is eliminated.

Kemtron unveil new soft solid oriented wire in silicone material

Kemtron unveil new soft solid oriented wire in silicone material

A flat, sheet material, comprising a solid silicone rubber, embedded with Monel or Aluminium metal wires orientated perpendicular to its surface. Excellent RFI/EMI/EMP shielding performance is achieved as the material has a wire density of up to 140 wires/ CM2 in solid silicone providing an environmental and RFI/ EMI seal when clamped between two metallic surfaces. These wires are crimped to aid compression and are chemically bonded to ensure their retention. They will also penetrate most light oxide layers, ensuring a low contact resistance path when suitably compressed.

For applications with severe joint uneveness, low closure forces , and where greater compressibility is required,Kemtron have developed new grades 470/480 of material to fulfil a need that meets the performance of our oriented wire in silicone sponge but with improved environmental sealing qualities. We have achieved this by using a very soft solid silicone with a reduced wire count of 100 wires per cm2 the same as our silicone sponge. The advantages of these materials over silicone sponge are that we can manufacture sheet widths of 225mm with a minimum thickness of 0.8mm. Material consistency is a great advantage over silicone sponge as there is no uneven cell structure to consider that affects moisture ingress and closure force.

BSI Certification

Kemtron gains re-certification for international environmental, quality and occupational health standards

Kemtron has completed the triennial re-certification for accreditation through the British Standards Institute (BSI) to ISO 14001:2004, the international standard for Environmental Management Systems, ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management Systems and OHSAS 18001:2007, the standard for Occupational Health and Safety.

  • The OHSAS 18001:2007 specification sets out the requirements for an occupational health and safety management system, to enable an organisation to control its OH&S risks and improve its performance.
  • ISO 14001:2004 specifies a process for controlling and improving a company’s environmental performance.
  • ISO 9001:2008 specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Quality has been a priority for Kemtron since 1988. We operate a policy of continuous improvement for customers, employees and the environment, and accreditation to these demanding standards reinforces our position as a world-class supplier.”

The company is now preparing for the transition to the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 revisions, which were released this year. Kemtron will be assessed to the revised standards in 2016.

The new Occupational Health and Safety standard is due for release in 2016 and will then be known as ISO45001: 2016. Kemtron will upgrade to the new standard in 2017.

All Kemtron’s current certificates are available on the company’s website www.kemtron.co.uk. These documents are now in electronic format and can be authenticated online with BSI using the link on the certificate.

New Website

New Website

New mobile-friendly website makes it easier to access information on Kemtron’s EMC shielding and environmental sealing solutions.

Kemtron, the British manufacturer of EMC shielding and environmental sealing solutions, has launched a new mobile-friendly website in response to the growing demand for information that is easy to view on mobile devices.

The new Kemtron website, www.kemtron.co.uk utilises responsive design, which means that the page layout adapts to the different screen sizes and formats found on smartphones, tablets, laptops or personal computers. Before responsive design, mobile websites were generally restricted to a limited range of content compared to the versions available on devices with larger screens.

“We recognize that our customers now use their smartphones and mobile devices for a whole range of design, development and sourcing tasks,” said Managing Director David Wall. “We wanted to improve convenience and ensure that they can have unrestricted access to information, wherever they are working.”

The new Kemtron website will continue to feature comprehensive information on EMC shielding and environmental sealing solutions, together with useful practical resources for designers and engineers.

The transition to mobile-friendly website design is essential. In fact, the IDG Global Mobile Survey 2014 found that 92 percent of executives own a smartphone used for business and 77 percent of respondents use their smartphone to research a product or service for their business.

A further indication of the growing importance of responsive websites is Google’s planned change in search rankings. Sites that meet mobile-friendly criteria will rank higher on Google, making it easier for designers and engineers to find information in their preferred format.
